affectionately known as Pastor "D"
is an inspirational teacher, anointed preacher and a
progressive community activist. His upstream approach,
heart to change lives and gift to speak with such fluency
and passion has brought Pastor “D” much attention
locally in Wilmington and nationally across the
United States.
After 15 years of incarceration, with 3 of the 15 years
spent on Delaware’s Maximum Security Unit (M.S.U.)
death row, Pastor “D” has been lifted to be one of the
most sought after speakers for intergenerational and
multi-cultural youth, adults and seniors throughout
the country. Pastor Derrick Johnson was instrumental
in affecting many viewpoints of “re-entry” when he
was highlighted and featured by the late Peter Jennings,
on ABC’s World News Tonight and consulted by President
Bill Clinton’s Drug Czar, General McCaffrey. Pastor “D”
also had the opportunity to address the entire Black
Caucus and consult with the staff of President Barack
Obama on ways to reduce the recidivism rate of
incarceration that plagues the United States of America.
Pastor “D” also great personal and public moments
working with Dr. Bill Cosby with national initiatives and
events.
